Phone or Accessories

Wirelessexchange is finally coming together.  The goal of the site is to provide extensive information on not only phones but on wireless accessories.  We have been working hard to finalize the scope and theme of the website and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.   In considering what to ramble about in my first blog I was reminded of a conversation I had a couple of years ago with one of the executives from Discountcell.com.  We had met at a trade show and were discussing the changes taking place in the wireless industry. 

Part of the discussion related to how to choose a phone.  Both he and I are often asked by others what the best phone is.  As we discussed how to best answer this question I found his perspective very interesting.  While he considers the phones options and features, he also weighs equally what accessories are available.  What types of chargers, batteries, headsets, and car kits are available for the phone?  Is there a data kit or cable available?  And how do these items compare in cost to the other phones available? That conversation changed my perspective.  I found there are some great phones on the market but the choices of accessories are limited or considerably more expensive.  Not being able to choose a comfortable headset or get a functional data kit is very frustrating. 

Next time you look at phones, do some research on what accessories are available.  At a time when most service providers are requiring 2 year contracts, having a wide variety of accessories can make all the difference in making the most of your phone.   Now, a side note.  Another benefit that came from this meeting was a partnership with Discountcell.  They have been great about providing us information and products to test.  I suspect some future blogs will relate to discussions we have based on this ongoing relationship.  We look forward to a long relationship with them and other future partners.
